Tetradentate cavitands

A different synthetic procedure to introduce cyanophenyl groups at the apical position (12c) was reported by Kobayashi et al. in 2004, together with the synthesis of the two new tetradentate cavitand ligands 14 and IS (Figure 7.4) [26].
