Tetrachloro(cyclopentadienyl) complexes of niobium and tantalum, and their ring-substituted derivatives can be prepared by two general, methods. One method uses tin reagents of cyclopentadienes and the other uses trimethylsilyl reagents, which are reacted with niobium or tantulum pentachloride.
