Terpyridine compounds

This new triazolopyridop)UTniidine 8b is fluorescent and has a dear structural relationship with terpyridines, compounds of great interest in coordination chemistry for their applications in the field of optic and magnetic new materials and luminiscent sensors. The characteristics as chemosensor of the 3-methyl derivative have been analysed (see Section 2.1) (06JOC9030).

Measurements of the lifetimes of NIESST states by time-resolved MES [51] and of LIESST states by time-resolved optical spectroscopy [52] on the very same system (a single crystal of [FC , Mni , (bpy)3] (bpy = bipyridine)) gave similar results. This supports the suggestion that the mechanisms for LIESST and NIESST relaxation are very similar, at least for the low-energy regime. The NIESST effect was also studied in Co(ll) SCO compounds, viz. [ Co/Co(terpy)2]X2 H20 (X = [CIOJ, n = V2,X = Cl , n = 5), where terpy is the tridentate ligand terpyridine... 

Si. rra(pentafluorophenyl)boron was found to be an efficient, air-stable, and water-tolerant Lewis-acid catalyst for the allylation reaction of allylsilanes with aldehydes.167 Sc(OTf)3-catalyzed allylations of hydrates of a-keto aldehydes, glyoxylates and activated aromatic aldehydes with allyltrimethylsilane in H2O-CH3CN were examined. a-Keto and a-ester homoallylic alcohols and aromatic homoallylic alcohols were obtained in good to excellent yields.168 Allylation reactions of carbonyl compounds such as aldehydes and reactive ketones using allyltrimethoxysilane in aqueous media proceeded smoothly in the presence of 5 mol% of a CdF2-terpyridine complex (Eq. 8.71).169... 

A complete description of the synthetic methodology and the characterization of the obtained metallosupramolecular block copolymers was reported in a recent paper [324]. These compounds have been referred to as metallosupramolecular block copolymers and designated by the acronym Ax-[Ru]-By, where A and B are the two different polymer blocks, -[Ru]- denotes the fczs-2,2/ 6/,2/terpyridine-ruthenium(II) linkage between the A and B blocks, and x and y represent the average degree of polymerization of the A and B blocks, respectively. The chemical structure of a PEB-[Ru]-PEO metallosupramolecular copolymer is depicted in Fig. 23.
