Terminalia tomentosa

C12H20O12 356.283 Isol. from partial acid hydrolysates of Acacia karoo, neem (Melia azadirachta), Terminalia tomentosa gums and from tragacanthic acid, the major polysaccharide component of gum tragacanth. 

Constit. of Chondroitin sulfate, C-125 and isol. from the partial acid hydrolysate of the capsular polysaccharides of Escherichia coli K12, Klebsiella K type 20 and from Terminalia tomentosa gum. 

A. mylitta. Tassar is a multivoltine type of silk and is mostly produced by tribal by rearing silkworms on forest plants Terminalia arjuna, Terminalia tomentosas and Shorea robusta). Tassar silk fibre has its own distinctive colour and is coarse to feel but has higher tensile strength, elongation and stress-relaxation values than the mulberry silk fibre secreted by Bombyx mori.
