Teratogenicity pentachlorophenol

Welsh, J.J., T.F.X. Collins, T.N. Black, S.L. Graham, and M.W. O Donnell, Jr. 1987. Teratogenic potential of purified pentachlorophenol and pentachloroanisole in subchronically exposed Sprague-Dawley rats. Food Chem. Toxicol. 25 163-172. [Pg.1235]

Pentachlorophenol is a poison by several routes. Human exposure causes increased respiradon, fever, tachycardia, muscle weakness, and cardiac failure. Many toxic effects are due to impurides in commercial-grade material. A teratogen and mutagen. Pentachlorophenol and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol may interfere with mitochondrial oxidadve phosphor)Iadon. When heated to decomposidon they emit toxic fumes of CL. See also specific compounds, PHENOL, and CHLORIDES. [Pg.342]

Pentachlorophenol has been demonstrated to be fe-totoxic and teratogenic with exposure during early gestation. [Pg.1928]

C. In animal studies, pentachlorophenol is mutagenic, teratogenic, and carcinogenic. DNP is teratogenic and may be weakly carcinogenic. [Pg.299]
