Telluronium Fluoride

Trimethyl telluronium fluoride [m.p. 128° (dec)], a deliquescent material, prepared was similarly1. 

Triphenyl telluronium fluoride and chloride reacted with xenon difluoride in dichlorome-thane3 5 or chloroform to give mer-triphenyltrifluorotellurium. 

Triphenyltrifluoro Tellurium4 The reaction is performed in Teflon equipment. A stirred solution of 116 mg (0.30 mmol) of triphenyl telluronium fluoride in 3 ml chloroform is treated with 62 mg (0.36 mmol) of solid xenon difluoride. The reaction mixture is stirred for 8 hat 20°. 15 ml hexane are then added I o precipitate the product, which is recrystallized from chloroform/n-hexane and sublimed at 102°/0.001 torr. 

Triphenyl Telluronium Fluoride 3.3 g (8.6 mmol) of triphenyl telluronium chloride, 1.0 g (4.3 mmol) of silver oxide and distilled water are stirred for 2 h at 20°, the mixture is filtered, and the filtrate is neutralized with hydrofluoric acid. The resultant solution is evaporated under vacuum at 20° and the residue is recrystallized from dry acetone the product melts at 203° with decomposition beginning at 190° m.p. 180° 3... 

Dimethyl tellurium in liquid hydrogen fluoride at — 70° was saturated with boron trifluoride. The dimethyl telluronium tetrafluoroborate was detected by 13C- and l25Te-NMR spectroscopy2. 

Triphenyl telluronium chloride and fluoride reacted with xenon difluoride in chloroform at — 10° to form mer-triphenyltrifluoro tellurium3-5.
