Systems with Two Surfactants

Studies have been performed using the ultrasonic absorption relaxation for the study of the surfactant exchange. Mixtures of sodium nonylsulfate with sodium hexyl- and pentylsulfates showed more than one relaxation process, However, the experimental conditions did not permit a determination of the [Pg.116]

The rate of formation of mixed micelles of two ganglio-sides was found to be very slow, with a time constant of about 3 hours. In these experiments, two micellar solutions of two different gangliosides were mixed, and the change of scattered intensity with time reflected the hybridization of the micelles. Such very large values of T2 are in line with the very small values of k reported for gangliosides (see Section III.B.ll). When one of the two micellar solutions of ganglio-side was replaced by a solution of Triton XlOO, a conventional nonionic surfactant, the rate of hybridization was very fast. [Pg.118]
