Synthesis of Intermediate for Quinolone Antibiotic Drug

In one reaction step, the enamine moiety is protected by the t-Boc group in a fast and highly exothermic (AH = —213kJ/mol) reaction [37]. 

A slit-type interdigital microraixer was used for fast mixing [37] and compared to a tubular reactor and five Kenics mixers connected in series. Details of further components of the micromixer rig were not given, but most likely a capillary reactor was added for efficient heat exchange.
