Synthesis of copper II chsalen

METAL CATALYSED CARBON-CARBON BOND-FORMING REACTIONS [Pg.24]

2R)- 7V,iV -bis-(2 -hydroxybenzylidene)]-l,2-diaminocyclohexane (2.96g, 9.2 mmol) was placed in a 100-mL round-bottomed flask equipped with a magnetic stirrer bar. Methanol (46 mL) was then added. A solution of NaOMe (0.50 g, 9.2 mmol) in methanol (5 mL) was then added followed by copper(II) bromide (2.05 g, 9.2 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred for 3 hours at room temperature and then the solvent was removed in a rotary evaporator. [Pg.24]

The copper complex was isolated from the crude residue by column chromatography on Sephadex LH-20 (EtOH/toluene 25 75) (2.2g, 63% yield) m.p. 270 °C. [Pg.24]
