Synthesis of an Arylamide Framework

Compounds that mimic the amphiphilic nature of AMP, such as P-amino acid helices and antimicrobial polymers, have been investigated [64, 65]. One class of such compounds is the arylamides foldamers, which consist of an arylamide backbone and several charged and hydrophobic groups resulting in a topographically amphiphilic construction [66]. These compounds exhibit important selectivity and activity against bacteria with decreased toxicity in animal models. [Pg.74]
