Pikwitonei granulite domain 6-9 2.5-3.1 Ga Superior craton, (2) 37 25 Amphibolite-lower granulite facies. Dominately tonalite gneiss, minor mafic gneisses, quartzites, anorthosites. Granulite-facies. Predominantly silicic to intermediate gneiss, with minor paragneiss, mafic-ultramafic bodies and anorthosites...

The Rayleigh-wave phase velocities (plotted as error bars 2 SD either side of the mean) are clearly higher than those measured in an older study of the Canadian Shield (continuous lines Brune Dorman 1963), which was not confined to the Superior Craton.

First (preserved ) giant, radiating, mafic dyke swarms, e.g. Matachewan dyke swarm, Superior craton 2.48-2.44 Ga Heaman 1997... 

First modern-style sediment-rich passive margin sequences, e.g. Huronian Supergroup, southern margin of Superior craton 2.48-2.2 Ga e.g. Young et a/. 2001... 

As already discussed, in the Abitibi greenstone belt of the Superior craton, extensive dating of volcanic units, their inherited zircons, and feeder dykes cutting imits lower in the stratigraphy has established coherent stratigraphy where previous workers had proposed a tectonic collage. 

As alluded to above, in the western Superior craton a strong case is building for c. 2.7Ga lateral interaction of distinct crustal nuclei for example, the North Caribou and Winnipeg River terranes (e.g. Pereival et al. 2001h). It is remarkable, however, that even in this more compelling case for lateral accretion we lack...
