Sulphuretted hydrogen sulphur dioxide

Small quantities of sulphur dioxide result by the oxidation of traces of sulphuretted hydrogen etc., normally present in coal-gas. 

A second paper by Faraday announced the liquefaction of sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, chlorine dioxide, nitrous oxide, cyanogen, ammonia, and hydrogen chloride (previously liquefied by Davy). This is followed by another short paper by Davy on the application of liquids formed by the condensation of gases as mechanical agents. Davy says that with the assistance of Faraday he had liquefied sulphuretted hydrogen he gives the pressures exerted by this and liquid muriatic acid. An appendix records the expansion of air by heat under pressures of 2 and more than 3 atms., which were found to be exactly the same , also with air of J, J, or J the natural density.
