Sulfoxide complexes of lanthanides

Both the conductance and the molecular weight measurements substantiate the infrared data for the [Ln(BuL)3(N03)3] complexes. In the poor coordinating solvent nitromethane, the complexes were found to be neutral and monomeric. In DMF, however, the complexes were found to be 1 2 electrolytes, demonstrating behavior similar to that of the dimethyl sulfoxide complexes of lanthanide nitrates prepared by Ramalingam and Soundara-rajan. Values for were compared with those of Ames and Sears in DMF, while in nitromethane the values obtained by Gill and Nyholm were used as a reference.
