Sulfonated naphthalene water reduction

In addition to the two basic groups of antifreeze admixtures, others containing superplastizisers such as sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde (SNF) and sulfonated melamine formaldehyde (SMF) have been developed. The main advantage afforded by such admixtures is that they produce significant water-reduction. [Pg.317]

Traditional concrete water reducers are formed by mixing lignin as main component with naphthalene sulfonic acid sodium salt. Although the cost of such kind of additives is relatively low, they cannot provide desirable concrete water reduction when the effective content in the concrete is low. For example, when a type F water reducer, which consists mainly of naphthalene-based compoimds, is used, rapid concrete slump will result. [Pg.198]

Properties White needles. Slightly soluble in water. Derivation Nitration of naphthalene-a-sulfonic acid followed by reduction with iron and crystallization of the sodium salt. [Pg.959]
