Sugars 2- amino-2-deoxy, hydrolysis

Amino-sugars and Related Compounds. Part II. Observations on the Acidic Hydrolysis of Derivatives of 2-Amino-2-deoxy-D-glucose (D-Glucosamine), A. B. Foster, D. Horton, and M. Stacey,... [Pg.31]

Amino-2-deoxy aldoses. The behaviour of O-unprotected sugars is exemplified in D-gluco series after basic hydrolysis of the starting 2-benzamidoglycoside followed by buffering the medium with carbon dioxide and treatment with thiophosgene, an intermediate isothiocyanate was obtained.320 However, NMR revealed a temperature-dependent equilibrium of this isothiocyanate with a trans-fused OZT (Scheme 5). [Pg.129]

The bromodeoxyaldonolactones have been used for the preparation of aminodeoxy aldonic acids and aminodeoxy sugars via azido derivatives (45,46). Likewise, a- and /J-aminopolyhydroxy acids have been prepared by treatment of the bromodeoxyaldonolactones with liquid ammonia (47). Thus, 3-amino-3-deoxy-D-threonic acid and 3-amino-3-deoxy-D-arabin-onic acid (40b) were obtained from 2-bromo-2-deoxy-L-threono- or D-xy-lono-1,4-lactone (38). It was shown that 2,3-epoxy carboxamides (namely, 39) are intermediates of the reaction. Heating at 90° for long periods led to the 3-amino-3-deoxyaldonamides, which upon acid hydrolysis yielded the corresponding aldonic acids. [Pg.135]

There exist many naturally occurring sugars in which a hydroxyl group of a monosaccharide is replaced by an amino or a thiol group. These compounds, commonly called amino or thio sugars, play a wide variety of important biological roles. Representative examples of these classes are 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-a-D-glucose (1) and 7-(5-S-methyl-5-thio-/ -D-ri-bosyl)adenine (vitamin L2,2). The former is the product of hydrolysis of... [Pg.135]
