Subtotal nephrectomy

Compared to other subtypes, considerably less is known about a2B-ARs. The a2B-ARs appear to have an important role in eliciting the hypertensive response to c 2-adrenergic agonists because in a2B-knockout mice this response was abolished, and the hypotensive effect was immediate and accentuated (60). Moreover, a2B-ARs have been implicated in salt-induced hypertension because a2B-knockout mice showed little hypertensive response after subtotal nephrectomy and dietary salt loading compared to WT mice (62). [Pg.304]

Subtotal (five-sixths) nephrectomy in rats has been used by many authors as model for chronic renal failure. Levine et al. (1997) used this model to evalu-... [Pg.125]
