Subject cyclodextrin phase

In our group, different types of vinyl monomers showing low solubility towards water (Table 2) were complexed with cyclodextrin and the obtained water-soluble complexes were subjected to free-radical polymerizations and copolymerizations in aqueous phase. The optically clear solution of the complex becomes turbid because of the precipitating polymeric powder. It was shown in nearly all cases that higher monomer conversions were obtained as compared with polymerization... [Pg.2038]

Prabhakaran and Harvey have reported the gas-phase molecular dynamics simulation of a-cyclodextrin [31]. They noted that several different conformations of a-cyclodextrin had been revealed by crystal structures, indicating that the cyclodextrin was conformationally less stable than commonly supposed, and that a dynamic equilibrium might be possible in solution. Beginning with coordinates from a crystal structure of a-cyclodextrin, they subjected the molecule to a molecular dynamics simulation as described above. [Pg.195]
