Structure of the Hydrogen Wave and Experiments on Single-Crystal Planes 

the hydrogen wave exhibits a clear structure, consisting of three (or more) separate peaks/ The structure usually becomes more apparent when a low rate of the potential sweep is employed. 

It is not quite clear at present what is the relation between these peaks and, e.g., two of the hydrogen adsorption peaks reported on the Pt (111) face from gas phase experiments or with regard to the theoretical prediction of two adsorbed states of hydrogen on metal surfaces.
