Structure-activity relationships molecular design

It is clear that a molecular imderstanding of phenomena on surfaces, elementary steps, help to imderstand how to improve catalytic systems through a structure-activity relationship. While there is still room for improvement, it should lead, in the near future, to a more rational design of heterogeneous catalysts and to the apphcation of metals modified by surface organometalhc chemistry to a larger number of reactions.

Structure-activity relationships are very important in understanding drug actions and in designing novel drugs. Seemingly small modifications in a drug s molecular structure can radically alter its effects.
