Strain detection test apparatus

The focus of this chapter is on how we can actually generate the deformations already described, particularly those given in Chapters 3 and 4. For example, even if the sample can follow a step strain without inertia problems, we still need an apparatus to generate that motion. No rheometer can do it instantly. We describe the major methods of rheometer control and measurement and discuss instrument compliance, imperfect temperature distribution, and similar problems. The final section gives some criteria for instrument and test selection, as well as guidelines for detecting instrument errors. [Pg.338]
