Stellata clarella

Even more interesting is of the occurrence in the sponge Stellata clarella of a series of A -3-ketones (251, 252, 253, 254, 255), the first occasion on which any a,P-unsaturated steran-3-one have been found frorn marine sources. 

In addition to A -3p-hydroxy-sterols Stellata clarella also contains 5a-cholestanol (147), 5a-ergostanol (256), and 5a-poriferastanol (257). The latter two must be counted as new to Porifera.
