Hot-working steel

The ingots were hammer forged tol Ae-in. diameter bars at an initial temperature of 1150 to 1170 C (2100 to 2140 F). The steels hot-worked readily and were free from edge or surface cracks. The bars were cut into specimen slugs, solution heat-treated for 1 hr at 1008 C (1850 F) and air cooled. The compositions of the steels obtained are given in Table I. [Pg.422]
