Standards Australia

Several countries (Cyprus, Estonia, Venezuela and Zimbabwe) have adopted the WHO GMP guidelines (25) as their statutory GMP standards. Australia has its own GMP guidelines. Malaysia uses the GMP guidelines of the ASEAN (26). The Netherlands has adopted the European Union guidelines on GMP inspection (27). The majority of the countries have also developed SOPs for their inspectors, as indicated in Table 7.1. Australia, Cuba, Cyprus, Malaysia, Uganda and Venezuela have not developed guidelines for GDP. [Pg.64]

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is a joint agency of Australia and New Zealand. It is a statutory authority that develops food standards for composition, labelling and contaminants, including microbiological limits, that apply to all foods produced or imported for sale in Australia and New Zealand. [Pg.276]

Standards Australia [23] has established AS/NZS ISO 14021 2000, Environmental Labels and Declarations - Self-Declared Environmental Claims (type II environmental labelling). This Standard is an adoption with national modifications of ISO 14021 1999 and it specifies requirements applying to the development of environmental claims, expressed in either words or symbols, about products and services. The objective of the standard is to harmonise the various national guidelines on environmental claims used on product labels and in marketing generally, in order to facilitate trade in the global marketplace and to improve consumer confidence in environmental claims. [Pg.282]

It should be noted that the voluntary program of bread fortification in Tasmania was introduced as an interim measure only. As a result of the re-emergence of iodine deficiency in Austrafia (Gunton et al., 1999 Li et al., 2001, McDonnell et al., 2003, Hynes et al., 2004) and in New Zealand (Thomson et al., 2001, Skeaff et al., 2002, 2003) mandatory fortification of bread with iodized salt is presently being considered by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) (2007). [Pg.1247]

Standards Code is not a simple process it requires the preparation of three assessment reports and two rounds of public consultation by Food Standard Australia New Zealand. The Australia and New Zealand Food Regulation Ministerial Council is then notified of the final report, which they can choose to adopt, amend, reject, or may request for a review. Now that the new food standard has been accepted, the regulation comes into effect after a set transition period (usually 12 months). Mandatory iodine fortification will be in place more than 10 years after the re-emergence of iodine deficiency in New Zealand was identified. [Pg.1257]
