The first example of such a complex was reported by Che in 1994, who attributed the broad, structureless, room temperature emission band of Pt(phen)(-C=C-Ph)2 to a Pt(d)-7r (phen) 3MLCT excited state (Aem = 578 nm, r = 2.1 xs in CH2CI2) [25].
