Spoiler actuator

Following are examples taken from the lecture of Robinson (Ref 1) a) Spoiler Actuator. An explosive unit required to operate flight controls in the JB-2 Bomb [(which was Amer adaptation of the German Buz Bomb, also known as V-l (Vergelcungswaffe Eins) (See Vol 2,... [Pg.5]

Electric power actuators are likely to evolve. The actuators used on Aiibus use a hydraulic power transmission (internal to the actuator), between an electric motor and the cylinder (see Figure 6.7). Mechanical internal direct transmission is another option. Boeing uses it on some spoilers on the B787, in a not veiy critical functiom Indeed, certain modes of failure (mechanical blocks) seem more likely than with an internal hydraulic transmission therefore, this technology should be used with caution, although it is promising in terms of cost and weight [TOD 10]. [Pg.213]
