Spectra of Some Co-ordinated Ligands

Vibrational data have been reported for LiC2H4 in low-temperature argon matrices, including data from Li, and H/D isotopic substitution. Assignments were suggested, based on a harmonic force field.  

Beryllium atoms react with CH4 to produce CHsBeH (trapped in an argon matrix), with 5sCH3 at 1205.4 cm and pCHs at 704.2 cm . Matrix-isolation IR data of CH3X (where X = C1 or Br) and Mg show that MeMgX and MeMgMgX are formed with characteristic bands due to the coordinated methyl group.

The IR and Raman spectra of Cr(CO)3[t - 7-exo-(HC = C)C7H7 ] (v(sCH)) suggest that there is weak hydrogen-bonding between the alkynyl H and a carbonyl ligand in the crystal. Thus the value is 3293 cm , compared to 3315 cm in hexane solution.  

The values of vCH for alkanes adsorbed on Mo or Cu surfaces were used to characterise the interaction between the alkane molecules and the surfaces. The complexes (6) have vC=0 (acyl) at 1618 cm (R=Me) or 1614 cm (Et). Similar assignments were made in a large number of related complexes. [Mo(C = CFc)(dppe)(r -C7H7)], where Fc = ferrocenyl, has an IR band due to vCsC at 2052 cm one-electron oxidation to the monocation shifts this to 2002 cm K The complex (7) has vNH bands at 3410 cm and 3240 cm , with vC=0 at 1640
