When specifying a furnace for a new or existing facility with or without a consultant s input, the production rate for each product must be studied first. For example, on a mill that averages 60 tph, but with some production rates as high as 120 tph, a businessman would be inclined to buy a furnace for perhaps 80 tph. This example actually happened when a designer, realizing the businessman s folly, actually planned the furnace for 110 tph. After the furnace became operative, the mill averaged 100 tph, still with peaks of 120 tph. Furnaces that limit productivity are difficult to correct... [Pg.392]
