Soyabean glues

Soyabean glues are based on the residue (flour) remaining after the oil has been extracted from the bean. This residue contains 45—50% protein, the remainder being mainly carbohydrates and cellulose. The flour may be dispersed in aqueous alkali to give a glue used in the production of interior grades of plywood. Alternatively, the protein content of the flour may be isolated by alkaline extraction and use for paper coating. [Pg.201]
