Wang et al. [91] developed a poly(4-vinylpyridine)-supported acidic ionic liquid (104), and used it as catalyst for the S5mthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(lH)-ones (105) under ultrasonication. The reaction of 4-vinylpyridine and 1,3-propanesultone followed by the polymerization and the addition of the heteropolyacid afforded the ionic liquid that subsequently acted as a heterogeneous catalyst in the cyclocondensation reaction of anthranilamide (102) with aldehydes (103) providing 105 in higher yields on sonication (Scheme 25). Additionally, the catalyst could be effectively recovered and reused six times wi out noteworthy loss of its catalytic activity.
