1 Thermal decomposition of CH2N2J and the CH3NO2 — CH3ONO isomerization 

Similarly, the corresponding VB formulations for the CH3NO2 — CH3ONO isomerization are those of [42 7 43] — 44, and 45 — 46 — 44, respectively. But no change in electron spin couplings occurs for this reaction. 

As is the case for the examples considered in the previous sections, and below, the VB formulation to be preferred for dissociation will depend on the relative energies of the Kekule and Dewar-type Lewis structures. 

The increased-valence structures 39 and 45 for CH2N2 and CH3NO2 are generated from the Kekule-type Lewis structures 37 and 42 via the one-electron delocalisations that are indicated in structures 47 and 48. More
