Some concluding remarks regarding the 1-D model for water

Some concluding remarks regarding the 1-D model for water [Pg.206]

In spite of the admittedly unrealistic nature of the 1-D system, I believe that a great deal of understanding about water can be achieved at a molecular level by studying these simple models. In particular, the fact that such primitive models succeed [Pg.206]

The first comment refers to the work of Cho et al. (1996), who used an earlier version of the primitive model for water (the one referred to as the BNID potential in Fig. 2.10c). In their conclusion, the authors wrote It might be necessary, in order to reproduce the known temperature and pressure effects, to insert empirically the appropriate double-well feature into the water potential. (italics added) [Pg.207]

The second comment is in the same vein as the first. It might sound like a matter of semantics, but in my view it is more [Pg.208]
