SO2F2

Over a decade of research, we were able to show that practically all conceivable carbocations could be prepared under what became known as stable ion conditions using various very strong acid systems (see discussion of superacids) and low nucleophilicity solvents (SO2, SO2CIF, SO2F2, etc.). A variety of precursors could be used under appropriate conditions, as shown, for example, in the preparation of the methylcyclopentyl cation. 

Nitric oxide and OF2 inflame on contact emission and absorption spectra of the flame have been studied (24). Oxygen difluoride oxidizes SO2 to SO, but under the influence of uv kradiation it forms sulfuryl fluoride [2699-79-8] SO2F2, and pyrosulfuryl fluoride [37240-33-8] S20 F2 (25). Photolysis of SO —OF2 mixtures yields the peroxy compound FSO2OOF [13997-94-9] (25,26). 

Alkaline hydrolysis yields predominantly thiosulfate. SSF2 bums with a pale-blue flame when ignited, to yield SO2, SOF2 and SO2F2.

However, in the presence of UV radiation the products are sulfuryl fluoride, SO2F2, and pyrosulfuryl fluoride, S2O5F2 ...
