Slater-Condon-Shortley rules

The energy expression can be found using a set of rules known as the Slater-Condon-Shortley rules. These rules are discussed in all the classic texts, the idea being that the energy expression which involves integration over the coordinates of all the electrons can be reduced to a much simpler sum of terms involving the coordinates of one and (at most) two electrons. The variational energy works outas... [Pg.112]

It should be remembered that terms such as < ,HF M fry> will vanish as a consequence of the Slater-Condon-Shortley rules, and if we were to use perturbation theory to calculate the Ct etc. we would find C[Pg.78]

Slater-Condon rule (Condon and Shortley, 1935) for evaluating matrix elements of a one-electron operator. In practical calculations one would, of course, use this rule as well as the other counterparts of the Slater-Condon rules. [Pg.5]
