Skill testing, appropriateness

All three units (Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis and Researching Chemistry) are assessed by your teacher or lecturer. For the first two of these units, your knowledge will usually be assessed by a written test. Your school or college will also collect evidence to show that, during the course, you have demonstrated the skills of scientific enquiry necessary to carry out an experiment and have shown that you have appropriate problem-solving skills. 

Make note of the kinds of errors you made and review the appropriate skills and concepts before taking another practice test. 

Improvement in Management Skills. Patients and families should be shown the various types of medications and devices, and the patients should be tested to determine their preferences and ability to use them correctly. The appropriate selection of devices for specific patients cannot be overemphasised. Once the device is selected, patients and families must learn how to use them correctly. On repeat visits, patient ability and competence is checked and re-checked. Peak flow measurement with home monitoring is generally prescribed for those with moderate-to-severe asthma. Self-management is made as simple as possible. 

In the case of esterases, the homogenates are exposed to an appropriate substrate such as napthyl acetate and subsequently to a staining solution of Fast Garnet GBC salt. The intensity of the resulting color reveals the presence of the esterase and the level of its activity (97). The simplicity of the filter paper procedure makes it a desirable test for use under both laboratory and field conditions. The qualitative and quantitative accuracy of these procedures and their complexity may vary, so the choice of a test would depend on the precision required and the facilities and skills available.
