Single template

Although there is no single template for an effective proposal (because RFPs make different demands on writers), there is a lot to be gained from examining models of successful proposals. 

Marine Sterols. Several hundred unique sterol structures have been elucidated from a variety of marine invertebrates. A single nucleus can be used to describe most terrestrial sterols, but no single template suffices for marine sterols, Similar to cholesterol, marine sterols play a critical role in both the physiology and biochemistry of biological systems. 

Application of MIP chemosensors imprinted with two different templates can also improve detectability. For instance, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have been determined using polymers molecularly imprinted with two different PAH templates [155]. Compared with MIPs of a single-template imprint, the detection signal of the resonant frequency change was enhanced by a factor of five and LOD for pyrene was as low as 60 pg L 1. This two-template largely improved detectability can be attributed to easier accessibility of the recognition sites through different diffusion pathways. 

The minimalist molecules that may be organized by a linear template within a molecular assembly for reaction are molecules with a single hydrogen-bond acceptor site. Thus, a single template may organize two stilbazoles in a head-to-head arrangement for a regiocontrolled photodimerization that produces a head-to-head cyclobutane product. 

Workflow-based template The template constituting the document does not just contain the predehned sections but also incorporates information about the sequence in the scientihc workflow. In this case, the user is not allowed to deviate from the preset workflow for instance, he has to start with the flrst section in the document and needs to have witnessed the section before he can work on the flrst one. Form- and workflow-based templates may be combined in a single template. 

A single (template) strand of the DNA to be sequenced (blue letters) is hybridized to a synthetic deoxyribonucleotide primer (black letters). The primer is elongated in a reaction mixture containing the four normal deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates plus a relatively small amount of one of the four dideoxyribonucleoside triphosphates. In this example, ddGTP (yellow) is present. Because of the relatively low concentration of ddGTR incorporation of a ddGTP and thus chain termination, occurs at a given position in the sequence only about 1 percent of the time. Eventually the reaction mixture will contain a mixture of prematurely terminated... 

A cap molecule of suitable size and symmetry could effectively close off the interior of trimer 7 to create a very large molecular container. Such a feat has recently been accomplished in our laboratories, where trimer carceplex 9 -3 DMF was synthesized in 37% yield, by reaction of trimer 7 with 2,4,6-tris(bromomethyl)mesitylene under basic conditions (Scheme 4-4) [21]. No empty trimer carcerand has yet been isolated, which implies that a template (or templates) is required for formation. Can a large single template molecule form trimer carceplex 9-guest We are currently investigating this possibility. Such an investigation begs the question when does a template effect become a solvent effect ... 

The simplest type of rigid-body method involves simply transferring the backbone conformation of the core of the protein from a single template to the unknown protein. An alternative is to construct a framework by averaging the structures from a number of protein templates Each template can be given a weight related to its sequence similarity to the unknown target [Srinivasan et al 1996]...
