Simvastatin thrombocytopenia with

Thrombocytopenia occurred in a 46-year-old man coinciding with atorvastatin treatment he had already tolerated simvastatin (12). 

Severe thrombocytopenia occurred in a 75-year-old woman taking simvastatin 5 mg/day and was resistant to therapy until she developed pneumonia. Recovery from the thrombocytopenia coincided with an increased interleukin concentration in the blood (10).
