Silylene-thienylene

The silylene-thienylene copolymers were prepared as shown in Scheme 29 (95JOM(489)15). 

Also, the reaction of 48 with Cl-(SiMe2)6-Cl yielded the polymer 51 with three consecutive thienylene and six consecutive dimethylsilanylene moieties in the chain unit. Therefore the polycondensation of dilithio derivatives of mono-, di- or tertiophene allowed the preparation of a variety of polymers with regularly alternating silylene and thienylene. 

Corriu and co-workers have demonstrated that the reactions of dilithium reagents of mono-, di-, and trithiophene with dichlorosilanes and bis(chlorosilyl)-compounds afford the corresponding polymers (46) [70]. Similarly, poly(silylene-2,5-thienylenes) (47ah-d) can be prepared by the reactions of bis(5-lithiothi-enyl)silanes with dichlorosilanes (Scheme 15.4) [71].
