Silicon compounds functionalized organosilanes

The properties and applications of commercially important hydride functional silanes, ie, compounds having a Si—H bond halosilanes, ie, compounds having a Si—X bond and organosilanes, ie, compounds having a Si—C bond, are discussed hereia. Compounds having Si—OSi bonds are called sdoxanes or sihcones. Those having a Si—OR bond are called siUcon esters. Sdoxanes and siUcon esters are discussed elsewhere ia the Eniyclopedia (see Silicon COMPOUNDS, SILICON ESTERS SILICON COMPOUNDS, SILICONES). 

These results led to the development of a new reduction method for functional organosilanes R3SiX (X = OR, Cl, F) (229-230). The results are presented in equation [65]. With the exception of chlorosilane, the reduction of optically active compounds occurs with retention of configuration at silicon. 

The chemistry of silicon, germanium, and tin transition metal compounds has been the subject of several reviews (12, 180). Optically active silyl ligands have been introduced in a transition metal complex by reaction of chiral functional organosilanes. However chiral silyl ligands containing complexes are limited to a few metal centers we shall discuss in turn iron, cobalt, platinum, and manganese complexes. 

The surface modification of the fillers used is implemented by the use of a variety of chemical compounds such as organosilanes, stearic acid, fatty acid, silicone oil, zinc stearate, magnesium stearate, and titanium stearate. In this case, the modifier functional groups interact with the hydroxyl groups of filler, while the carbon chains of the modifier are much shorter than the carbon chains of the used polymer that hinders the...
