Sherwood Sandstone Group

Yates, P.G.J. 1992. The material strength of sandstones of the Sherwood Sandstone Group of north Staffordshire with reference to microfabric. Quarterly Journal Geological Society, 25, 107-113. [Pg.574]

Experiments undertaken by the British Geological Survey used a variety of rock types from the Lower Triassic Sherwood Sandstone Group (Czernichowski-Lauriol et al. 1996 Pearce et al. 1996). This is a sequence of continental red beds that forms important aquifers and petroleum reservoirs both onshore in the UK and offshore beneath the North Sea. In batch experiments, small blocks of rock were partly immersed in water (either C02-saturated de-ionised water, or C02-saturated 0.55 M NaCl solution) and partly exposed to CO2. In flow experiments, short cores of sandstone was flushed with CO2-saturated 0.55 M NaCl solution. Temperatures of 80°C and pressures of 200 bar were used in all... [Pg.122]
