Unlike the woven jumpsuit with an on-fabric network, the off-the-shelf jumpsuit with a sewn network is an expansion of another garment, specifically the pants-and-jacket ensemble described in Section 27.2.2. Three important areas focused on with the... [Pg.635]

The computational system from the pants-and-jacket ensemble with a sewn network was placed on an off-the-shelf medium-sized jumpsuit, shown in Fig. 27.10. The bus concept was changed to thin USB cords, which were housed within fabric tubing to help mask the sensation of the USB cords. Specialized connectors were not... [Pg.636]

The third application to be described is a user-independent and sensor-tolerant activity classifier [1,2,4]. This application was initially developed using the pants-and-jacket ensemble, but, due to the issues with sensor movement relative to that garment described in Section 27.2, the final development of this application was on the jumpsuit with a sewn network. [Pg.648]

Tier 1 and Tier 2 nodes are connected via an I C bus and are distributed across the body as shown in Fig. 27.14. I C is a two-wire network interface with shared clock (SCL) and data lines (SDA). The four-wire on-fabric (sewn or woven) network described in Section 27.2 consists of the two wires for the I C bus and two wires for power and ground. The T1 nodes on the network monitor the SDA line for quiet periods to transmit. Data collisions are resolved through arbitration to ensure that one node cannot control the network. The T1 nodes arbitrate the I C bus as a multimaster system and communicate to the T2 node. To maintain synchronization across the T1 nodes a single timer node pulses the bus to initiate transmission from each T1 node. This synchronization mitigates timing irregularities and ensures updates from all... [Pg.639]
