Service life dynamic fatigue

To overcome these problems of interpreting the results from such test geometries several different approaches have been adopted. Firstly, several workers [8-10] have used the thick-adherend shear-test specimen (Section 6.4.2) to obtain dynamic fatigue data which are more characteristic of the actual adhesive employed. Such data may, therefore, be used to rank various adhesive formulations and, possibly, to predict service life. 

In addition to the rehabilitation techniques produced in Step 9 for the fatigue-life extension of critical bridge members and their connections, a set of alternative rehabilitation scheme will be produced which can be used efficiently and economically to improve overall static and dynamic service-load capacity of each characteristic group of the railroad bridge structural systems. For this purpose various repairing and strengthening schemes will be analysed from the engineering point of view.
