Sensors for measurement and control

Two of the most important considerations for a measurement system are accuracy and reliability. Clearly, a measurement is of little use if it is substantially inaccurate. It may be possible to allow for a consistent error in an instrument if it is known, but low frequency, randomly occurring errors will mean that incorrect actions may be taken by the operator as a result of reading that instrument, or by the control system employing it as a sensor. High frequency random variations in the measurement [Pg.437]
