Self-consistent field method coordinate optimization

Although the success of all methods is to some extent dependent on the suitable choice of coordinates, methods which depend in some fashion on mode separability rely particularly heavily on the choice of an optimal coordinate system. For example, methods based on the self-consistent field (SCF) or Mean Field approximation can yield highly accurate results with the right coordinates which are rapidly degraded by a poor choice. Further discussion of this problem can be found in the chapter by Gerber. [Pg.325]
