Self-assembled amphiphiles characterization techniques

In this chapter, we will focus on the self-organization of amphiphilic CD which form self-assembled colloidal systems with specific functionalities. In particular, the potential application of CD nanoaggregates and their nano-structured complexes with different guests in drug delivery will be mentioned. Light scattering and fluorescence techniques will be presented in order to characterize in detail their structure in aqueous solution. In this respect heterotopic colloids of amphiphilic cyclodextrins and photosensitizers will be shown as potential novel systems for targeted photodynamic therapy of tumours (PDT). [Pg.204]
