Selenito complexes

Crimson-red selenito complexes are formed within milliseconds by the addition of CoOH"+ species to Na2Se03 at pH values between 3 and 6.92U923 Bidentate chelates of type (247) do not... [Pg.822]

Monodentate selenito complexes can be distinguished from bidentate complexes by examining the V3 splitting discussed above. Monodentate complexes split into a doublet while bidentate complexes split into two distinct bands (26). Inspection of the peaks in Figure 7 suggests that they are separate peaks consistent with bidentate complexation. This is not definitive since the separation of the peaks (161 cm ) is closer to the separation seen for the monodentate bands than for that reported for the bidentate selenito complex (Table I). [Pg.155]

A number of basic oxalates, such as (U02)2C204(0H)2-2H20, and salts of basic oxalato complex ions of the types M3UO QO fOH) and Ms(U02)2(C204)4(0H) have also been reported, as well as salts of a wide range of peroxo-, halogeno-, sulfito-, sulfato-, selenito-, selenato-, thiocyanato- and carbonato-oxalato complex anions all need further investigation. [Pg.1201]

The ATR difference spectrum of adsorbed selenite on am-Fe(OH)3 showed two distinct peaks at 844 and 750 cm, corresponding to the Vj and V3 modes of selenite, with the V3 mode shifted upward as observed for all solid phase selenites, consistent with the presence of adsorbed selenite. The DRIFT spectrum, as shown in Figure 7, confirmed the presence of these peaks at 842 and 757 cm as well as additional bands at 594 and 478 cm. In accordance with reduced symmetry (from to C,) V3 is split into Vj and Vj and Vj is shifted to V3 (24). The band assignments are listed in Table I, with the splitting of the 737 band into bands at 757 and 594 cm. The previously IR inactive Vj mode is now assigned to V3 at 478 cm. This additional IR band in addition to the peak splitting is evidence of the reduced symmetry associated with formation of a selenito surface complex. [Pg.155]
