Selective Hydrogenation of Unsaturated Aldehydes and Ketones

Application of a similar procedure to a, )8-unsaturated ketones or aldehydes yields the corresponding allylic alcohol [23,24]. 

The unusual selective hydrogenation of a, )8-unsaturated aldehydes to unsaturated alcohols has also been accomplished using [RhCl(CO)2]2 in the presence of tertiary amines under oxo-conditions. Willdnson s catalyst reduces the alkene double bond under the same conditions [25].

So far, gold dusters have already been used to catalyze some typical reactions, including selective hydrogenation of unsaturated aldehydes and ketones selective oxidation of alkanes, alkenes, and alcohols CO oxidation and organic synthesis.
