SELCONT - Optimized Selectivity in a Semi-Continuous Reactor

5 SELCONT - Optimized Selectivity in a Semi-Continuous Reactor [Pg.417]

Keller (1998) describes the semi-continuous reaction process of a vinylketone K with lithium acetylide LA to yield lithium etinolate LE an intermediate in the vitamin production. In an undesired side reaction an oligomer byproduct BP is produced. During the process, reactant K is fed to the semi-batch reactor at a rate to maximize the selectivity for LE. [Pg.417]

An objective function can be defined with respect to the positive impact by the productivity of LE and the negative contribution by that of BP weighted by a factor a. [Pg.419]
