Second Law of thermodynamics statements

When it comes to heat, however, a Joule of thermal energy will not give a Joule of mechanical energy it is prohibited by the second law of thermodynamics (Statement A). TTius 19.5 kJ of heat cannot accomplish the task that the same amount of mechanical energy did in Example 5.1, i.e. to transfer 77.5 kJ of heat from the surroundings to the steam.
