SCLCPs Wherein the NLO Active Possess Mesogenic Properties Themselves

3 SCLCPs Wherein the NLO Active Moieties Possess Mesogenic Properties Themselves [Pg.254]

The factors that enhance the second order NLO activity of the molecules (high axial ratio, planarity, charged end groups) are es- [Pg.254]

Examples of electron-donating substituents are divalent radicals such as -0-, -S-, and -NR -, where R is hydrogen or methyl. Typical acceptor substituents are -NO2, -CN, and -CF3. The majority of SC polymers with NLO mesogenic groups have the donor substituent in the spacer chain and the [Pg.254]

There have been two main approaches toward the synthesis of SCLCPs containing NLO mesogenic groups  [Pg.255]

1) Side groups with suitable polymerizable functional ends can be synthesized first, with subsequent polymerization. [Pg.255]
