Scattering diagrams for long-lived complexes

In this type of reaction, the interactions keep the two reactants in close contact with each other for long enough for them to forget the directions in which they would have parted had they been able to do so before rotation. They thus move apart in random directions.

The first three columns, type of scattering, symmetry and type of reaction, give the inferences made from the actual diagrams. The final three columns, cross section, velocity in product and product energy, are then further deductions which come from the type of reaction which has been inferred.
